Logan Shuman
I am a Security+ certified, BYU-I alumnus with project experience in Cybersecurity, building enterprise networks, and scripting. I currently work in the IT field at UW Health, where I apply these skills to assure quality patient care.
My Projects
-
With a partner, we constructed a module that uses these AWS features: Creating and removing S3 users, creating an S3 bucket, uploading and downloading files to and from buckets, and translating text files. We then packaged our script as a module.
-
With help from a small team, I constructed a virtual network with Active Directory. We used both Desktop Experience and Server Core editions of Windows Server, along with a PFSense virtual firewall. We used Server Manager and Windows Powershell to add users, implement GPO’s, create OU’s, make a shared folder with customized permissions, create virutal machines, and partition virtual disks.
-
With a partner, we created a network using six virtual machines. Three of them were Linux and three of them were Windows. We used Fortigate and Palo Alto firewalls and divided out network into three zones. We installed and used the following on our network: GlobalProtect VPN, DUO, FreeRadius, Acrylic, Squid, Splunk, Security Onion, and Cacti.
-
With a partner, we conducted a penetration test with permission from BYU-Idaho on a small network. With Kali Linux, we used Nmap, Metasploit, and Mterpreter to find hidden files.
Experience
-
My field of knowledge with Powershell includes using the terminal to make virutal machines, establish network settings, install network features such as WSUS, create scripts to help with subnetting calculations, incorporate AWS commands, and create and install modules.
-
Configuring GPO’s, creating OU’s, establishing file shares, making virtual machines, configuring a domain and DC, installing DNS and DHCP, and configuring WSUS are all included in my experience with using Active Directory and Server Manager
-
I have been using Microsoft Word for various purposes my whole life, but I am also well versed in Microsoft Excel. I am able to insert and customize charts, create what-if scenarios, make formulas, and properly copy cell data using both relative and absolute references
-
I have used a variety of networking devices from different companies: Fortigate firewall, Palo Alto firewall, PFSense firewall, and Cisco routers and switches using the terminal.
-
I have used Google Cloud for using Kubernetes and clusters. I have some experience with AWS S3 in conjunction with Powershell cmdlets
-
I have used the Linux terminal for a variety of tasks in projects, ranging from file management, to configuring networking services, to creating a script to add users to a computer.
